Conducting Takemitsu's Three Film Scores, Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and Fellow Sundance Fellow Arturo Rodriquez' music in October at SOB's Conducting Workshop (String Orchestra of Brooklyn) was so inspiring.
The BMI Conducting workshop was amazing! Loved my 2 weeks in LA. (see pics "See C") http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7487945/composers-bmi-annual-conducting-workshop

BIG NEWS (since Jan 2015 or so
July 14, 2016
CN is proud and honored to be part of the Sundance Family, as a Composer / Fellow in the 2015 Sundance Institute & Skywalker Sound's Music and Sound Design Lab for Documentary Film at Skywalker Ranch. CN went to Park City UT in January, where he had Slamdance and Sundance Alumni Credentials, for the first time.
Another big honor - CN was a featured guest at the Nacogdoches Film Festival. For the first time (and in the oldest town in his home state), the composer was present for screenings of four of his films / scores (Two Texas premieres and two Slamdance Award winning films) following by a Q'n'A, on Thursday February 25th, at the Cole Arts Center. Wally Chung's Spirit of Slamdance Award Winning "Think Ink", Chandler Kaufman's "Karl Manhair Postal Inspector", Sam Miron & Stephen Scott Scarpula's "A New High" and, last but not least, Nicole Teeny's Slamdance Best Documentary "Bible Quiz". Yee Haw!!! CN led a film scoring master class for music composition majors / music students at SFA and was a panelist in several panels.
Finally, we have an updated player (hit play above, and the little "S" will shuffle) includes recent scores to award winning films!
2015 had many weekends with multiple festival screenings all over the world including festival favorites Think Ink, All in Time, Karl Manhair Postal Inspector, Missing People and A New High. (Many of these are multiple award winning, with the latter two premiering at the Los Angeles Film Festival.) Two feature docs screened to sold out audiences at DOC NYC - A New High, which opened Twin Cities FF, was short listed in the NYTimes AND Missing People, listed as a must see in The Village Voice and received a Doc Nyc special mention. (Indiewire says "there's no elevator speech for Missing People.") (DOC NYC was CN's 4rth "two films in the same festival" in 2015.) Karl Manhair screened at LA's Chinese Theater in two Festivals . All In Time and Break In screened on July at LIFE (Long Island Film Expo.) Feature Doc Missing People and comedy short Karl Manhair, Postal Inspector screened at BendFilm Festival. Missing People made it's East Coast premiere winning Best at Hamptons IFF, while in New Jersey All In Time won Best Feature at the NJFF. Quartet #8) and Bach at St. Ann's Church In Brooklyn Heights with the String Orchestra of Brooklyn's Conducting Workshop.

Moderating The American Side with David Shire at IFC
May 3, 2016
Wow, what a thrilling honor! See Jenna Ricker and Greg Stuhr's amazing The American Side at IFC Center this week, where wednesday May 4th at 745pm, I'll be moderating "Study of the Score" with Wonder of the World Maestro (and Master of Scoring Noir) David Shire. This film rocked one of my favorite festivals, Woodstock FF.
I've played bass in his musicals going way back (Baby, Starting Here Staring Now, Closer Than Ever), loved & studied scores to The Conversation, Taking of Pelham 123 and Zodiac, among others AND was mentored by him in the 2008 BMI Composing for the Screen workshop. (And oh yeah, I know I've danced the night away to his tracks on Sat Night Fever.)
Two Trains Runnin'
April 7, 2016
I'm thrilled beyond belief to be heading to Full Frame Documentary Film Festival for the world premiere of Two Trains Runnin'. Directed by the one & only Samuel D. Pollard, written/produced by the very insightful author (& new father) Benjamin Hedin, and edited / co-produced by wonder of the world Dava Whisenant. I’m so honored to have composed & performed the original score for this amazing documentary focused on events in Mississippi in June of 1964, where blues fans' search for Skip James & Son House intertwines with Freedom Summer. Narrated & EP'd by Common, it features performances by Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams, Chris Thomas King and Gary Clark Jr. (as well as featuring original music by the latter.) The Friday night Center Frame screening at Carolina theater is SOLD OUT and on saturday we’re off to Asbury Park Music In Film Festival for a 1pm screening, followed by a performance by chris thomas king.
Gonna be a wild ride.

(Short) Film Music Volume Two is Out (on Itunes + Cdbaby)
February 1, 2011
(Short) Film Music Volume Two is Christopher North's 12th album and his 6th film score release. Having completed the scores for several short films (Abidjan, Case Closed, Bemvindo, S&M, Mary's Journal, Pink) in 2009-2010 with strong responses around the globe, CN will launch shortfilmmusic.com soon to promote volumes 1 & 2 and bring together both "short music for film" (that is, short in duration, tracks for film) AND "music composed for short films." Is it possible for an 0:12 second long track to blow your mind? Listen to this album late at night with the shuffle engaged and see for yourself. Or then again, listen to Mary's Journal: Episode 1 "Connected" (Entire Score) / track number 19 - the odd man out coming in at 8:34 - and create a movie in your mind. This album features lots of CN's guitar playing (including afro-beat, americana, brazilian, classical, hard rock, ebow / sound effects and even slide + textures on cigar box guitar, as well as bamboo violin) and Bernard Hermann-esque symphonic writing. Most of this music was composed, recorded and produced very quickly for micro-budget films. The 8:34 minute long score for Mary's Journal was completed in less than three days.
